Uttara Nanavati is a researcher, writer, and curator specializing in design, culture, and history. With a unique blend of academic rigor and practical experience across galleries, museums, and cultural institutions, she brings a nuanced understanding of both classical and contemporary forms of art and design to her work.

Ms. Nanavati holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design from GLS Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, and an MA in History of Design and Curatorial Studies from Parsons School of Design, New York, where she also served as part-time faculty. Her expertise in curatorial practice was further honed during her fellowship at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, where she contributed to the acclaimed exhibition ‘Give Me A Sign: The Language of Symbols.’

Her diverse professional experience spans galleries, museums, academic institutions, and auction houses, providing her with a comprehensive perspective on art education, cultural communication, and audience engagement. This multifaceted background enables her to bridge the worlds of fine art, design thinking, and public education seamlessly.

Currently working with the Indigo Art Museum on communications and outreach, Ms. Nanavati continues to explore innovative ways to make art and design accessible and meaningful to diverse audiences. Her expertise in storytelling, curatorial practice, and educational programming aligns perfectly with Aartingo’s mission to foster art literacy and creative expression among young people.
